In ep17, Ahki & Sunny take up the #BlameBlackMen convo and once again question the motives of Black intellectuals who falsely define the political aspirations of Black men as seeking white patriarchal power. We use the term "mimetic thesis" to refer to the framework of ideas that make-up the believes that Black men are dumb, lacking of imagination, and only capable of mimicking the power of white patriarchy--a belief founded with the colonial and capitalist order that has grown in power for centuries into today. Many white feminists and even Black feminists like Brittney Cooper still traffic in the "mimetic thesis", as displayed in her recent interview with Washington Post writer Jonathon Capehart. FTT also discusses MLK Jr's release from a Georgia jail on Oct. 27th 1960, facilitated by the Kennedy presidential campaign, and the political implications of this event for Black politics.
